Note: PLEASE BE PATIENT WHEN SAVING AND EDITING FORMS WITH RESULTS AS IT TAKES A WHILE TO PROCESS ALL THE DATA

Note: When adding a race day from the Race Series form, the Series Name will be automatically supplied so will not normally need to be changed. Race days should normally be added from within the Race Series form unless they are "one off" races, for example if they are a race against another club. If one wishes to add or change a Race Series on this form, the drop down list contains all the Race Series set up already. If the Race Series hasn't already been set up it will need to be created before it can be entered here. Save this form, then select Race Series from the Administration menu on the left of the page and select the "Add a new race series" link to do this. You can then return to this page using the navigation trail at the top of the page.

Series

Series name:

Note: As a minimum you need to add the Start Date to ensure the race day is scheduled on the Calendar page. The Start Time, End Date, End Time, Location and Description are all optional information. If one wishes to add or change the Location on this form, the drop down list contains all the Locations set up already. If the Location hasn't already been set up it will need to be created before it can be entered here. Save this form, then select Event Locations from the Administration menu on the left of the page and select the "Add a new location" link to do this. You can then return to this page using the navigation trail at the top of the page.

When initially creating a Race Day, you normally wouldn't complete the remainder of this form as it contains details of the outcome of the race day. Return to the form once the Race Day has happened and edit it to include details of the outcome. At this point one should also complete the Description field for publication as a news item and provide a Publication Date. This will ensure that the results of the Race Day are published to the News Items list on the Landing Stage page. Don't forget to say in the Description that one should click on the headline to get the full results..

The Description field can contain "wiki markup" to format it. Instructions on how to use "wiki markup" can be found at the bottom of this form.

Note: In order to enter the results click on the "Add Another" button to enter a result line. The Position field allows entry of alphabetic and numeric characters so an "=" sign can be included if necessary. For positions 1 to 9, please enter a leading 0 so that the result lines are correctly sorted. The Boat and Skipper details are entered using drop down lists containing all the Boats and Skippers set up already. If the Boat or Skipper haven't already been set up they will need to be created before they can be entered here. Save this form, then select Boats or Members from the Administration menu on the left of the page and select the "Add a new boat" or "Add a new member" link to do this. You can then return to this page using the navigation trail at the top of the page. The score is simply a number. On the result line clicking the "+" icon allows inserting a new result line before the current one and clicking the "x" icon will delete the current line.

Note: The Scoring Notes field is a free format text field. It allows one to include a note about the scoring, for example if count back has been used to arrive at the positions. For a more general description of the race day, please use the description field above.

Note: In order to add pictures click on the "Add Another" button. Then click on the "Upload file" link to invoke the dialogue for uploading a picture. In the dialogue box click the "Choose file" button. Navigate to the location on your computer where the picture is stored, select the picture file and click on the "Open" button. This will return you to the "Upload file" dialogue. In the "file description box, change the "Destination filename" of the selected file to be the caption you wish the picture have, but keep the ".jpg" or similar extension information. The caption can contain alphanumeric characters, underscores and dashes only, as for a file name. You do not have to complete any of the other information. Then click the "Upload file" button at the bottom of the dialogue box to upload your picture. This process can be repeated for each picture you wish to upload. On the picture upload line clicking the "+" icon allows inserting a new line before the current one and clicking the "x" icon will delete the current line.

Note: The Publication Date determines when an item will be reported on the news list. If the date is in the future it will not appear until that date. If the date is in the past, the item will only appear if it is one of the last fifty news items before today's date. IF NO DATE IS ENTERED THIS ITEM WILL NEVER APPEAR ON THE NEWS LIST.
